Quote of the Month

Happiness is different from pleasure.  Happiness has something to do with struggling, and enduring, and accomplishing.

Understanding The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
First Connection  -  The LLS has a peer support program for patients and survivors. The First Connection program provides patients and their families the opportunity to share experiences with someone who has been successfully treated for the same diagnosis. Patients and caregivers learn coping skills and gain hope from trained volunteer survivors, who share their special perspective on the recovery process. For additional information on the First Connection peer support program please visit our website at www.lls.org .

Resolution Run

The James V Snyder benefiting fellow alum Rachel Sadd's father was a great success. The turnout was even bigger than expected, and thanks to everyone who attended a lot of money was raised for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

33rd Annual Spring Thaw. This race began as the original Pittsburgh Marathon and has evolved into one of the better warm-up races used by many Pittsburghers to prepare for the spring marathon season. It also makes a great prep race for Just A Short Run - 1/2 marathon also held in North Park the last Saturday or March. In 2008, despite a snowstorm the day before we hit the highest number of participants in well over 12 years, so the area's runners obviously love snow!
